Liz McColgan has vowed never to run for Scotland again following the appointment of her former coach, John Anderson, as team manager for the 1998 Commonwealth Games, writes Mike Rowbottom.
McColgan, 31, was involved in a legal wrangle with Anderson over compensation after they parted company in 1991, the year she won the world 10,000 metres title. The year before, Anderson - best known now as the referee in the Gladiators TV show - had guided her to a second Commonwealth 10,000m title. It means that McColgan has probably run in her last Commonwealth Games.
