Michael Schumacher, the World Formula One champion, yesterday spun off the Imola circuit in Italy but escaped unhurt and Jacques Villeneuve, who is teaming up with Damon Hill next season, blew an engine, thus causing an early end to tests of the Benetton and Williams teams in their preparations for next Championship race, the Pacific Grand Prix at Aida, on 22 October.
