THE 1994 Formula One season may not start on the streets of Buenos Aires as scheduled, but on a racing circuit outside the Argentinian capital.
The probable switch follows the election of a powerful banker, Marcos Gastaldi, as president of D'port Motor Tercer Milenio, the company which owns the racetrack. Gastaldi is keen on a switch, although the circuit needs considerable upgrading to grand prix standard.
Last month's announcement of a street race on 20 March - bringing Formula One back to Argentina after a 13-year absence - brought protests from local residents, politicians and environmentalists.
