Fernando Alonso had to wait for the fog to clear before he could get behind the wheel of Renault's new Formula One car yesterday. The twice world champion, who set some of the fastest lap timesduring testing in the French team's 2007 car in Jerez last week, spent two hours kicking his heels before being able to take some cautious spins around the Cheste Circuit, near Valencia, watched by 4,000 spectators.
The Spaniard joined Renault after an acrimonious season with McLaren in which he never saw eye to eye with Lewis Hamilton. All 11 F1 teams will test at the track today through to Thursday.
