Jaguar launched their 2004 challenger in Spain yesterday in the hope that they could put pressure on Formula One's lesser teams at last. They unveiled the R5 here at the Circuit de Catalunya in a bid to maintain the momentum they established last season.
"We aim to compete with the likes of Toyota, Sauber and BAR this season," the Jaguar team chief, Tony Purnell, said. "I don't think we're ready to go for the front guys but I would like to think we might put a little bit of pressure on them as the season progresses.
The Milton Keynes-based team also paraded their Austrian rookie, Christian Klien, for the first time. Klien, who turns 21 next month, will partner the Australian Mark Webber.
