Jamie Hamilton crash: Northern Irish rider 'critical but stable' after Isle of Man TT accident

Jamie Hamilton remains in a "critical but stable" condition after his high-speed accident in Friday's Isle of Man TT Senior race that caused the final event to be red flag.

Hamilton came off his bike on the Cronk-y-Voddy straight, a high-speed section of the 37.733 mile Mountain Course that motorcyclists tackle each year. The 24-year-old Northern Irishman was airlifted to Nobles Hospital in Douglas, before being flown to Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool.

A spokesman for the hospital told the BBC that Hamilton remains “crticial but stable” but refused to give any further details.

Hamilton came off his Cookstown Burrows Engineering Racing Suzuki 1000 near the 11th Milestone on his second lap, where he was running just outside the top 10 at the time of the incident.

Shortly after being taken by AirMed to Nobles Hospital, TT race officials confirmed that his injuries were being treated as “serious but not life-threatening”.

On Friday morning, Hamilton had equalled his best ever finish on the Isle Of Man with a fifth place in the Lightweight TT on his Supertwin machine, and he won the Best Newcomer Award in 2012 for his impressive debut at the TT event.
