Jamie Dobb consolidated his sixth place in the 250cc World Motocross Championship after finishing sixth in the Swedish GP at Uddevalla near Gothenburg.

The factory KTM rider from Derby suffered an early race problem when he dropped back from fifth place and looked in danger of slipping out of the top 10. But Dobb put in a late charge on the sandy track and claimed sixth place by the chequered flag.

Dobb benefited late in the race, when in seventh, as the Australian Andrew McFarlane was forced to retire with gearbox problems on his Kawasaki. But his efforts to catch McFarlane's team-mate Kenneth Gundersen just failed as he trailed the Norwegian by one second at the finish.

The Frenchman Mickael Pichon took his seventh race win in eight starts to tighten his grip on the championship.
