The trainer Brendan Ingle launched an amazing attack on leading referee Mickey Vann after his long-time British middleweight champion Neville Brown was dethroned by local boy Glenn Catley in Bristol on Saturday night.
Ingle retired his 31-year-old fighter in the corner after eight rounds of sustained punishment had closed his left eye and then accused Vann of letting Catley to use his head and shoulders throughout the bout.
"It's bad enough having 1,500 people against us without having to take on the referee as well," said the furious Irishman, who also guides the career of the World Boxing Organisation featherweight champion, Naseem Hamed.
