PETA will be on tenterhooks this weekend after Katy Perry revealed she plans to bring “lions and sharks” on stage during her Super Bowl performance.

The singer said she wants her anticipated half-time show to be “larger than life”, and has plans for a spectacular show.

Speaking at the NFL press conference, she said: “I think I’m the only person to ever do a half time show who brings a lion and sharks to the show. It’s going to be wild out there.”

She has not confirmed yet whether the animals will be real or not.

Perry will be joined on stage at the Super Bowl XLIX by Lenny Kravitz, and teased that another surprise guest - who she described as a “throwback” - will also be performing with her.

She said: “There is someone, this is true. I have to keep some surprises for Sunday but I’m very excited about this guest. I thought long and hard about it. People are not going to expect it.

“It’s a throwback of sorts that definitely needed some shine. All I can say is that it will be a female fun night but when this person enters the stage, faces will melt.”

The Super Bowl will see the Seattle Seahawks compete against the New England Patriots for the title of NFL champion.

Perry admitted she will not be sitting on the fence and will be supporting the Seattle Seahawks because she is friends with the team’s quarterback Russell Wilson.

“I love the Seahawks because of Russell. I think I’m probably going to go for them,” she said.
