Hello and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of Super Bowl 49!

The New England Patriots face the Seattle Seahawks in Glendale, Arizona, for a chance to win the NFL's biggest prize, the Vince Lombardi trophy.

The Seahawks won the prize last year and are bidding to become the first team since the Patriots in 2004-05 to win the Super Bowl in consecutive years. The Patriots have not won the trophy since then but will hope veteran quarterback Tom Brady can seal his place among the true greats of the game.
