The Sigma 33 National Championship went to Scotland's Ian Nicolson, whose St Joan, helmed by Simon Pender, had dominated the 73-strong feet throughout the nine races held within Ford Cork Week at Crosshaven. Second was John Connelly's Phoenix with Jeremy Vines third in Harmony. The big boat class 0 had always been a fight between the three Bashford-Howison 41s, the winner being the latest version, Jocelyn Waller's Silk 2, helmed by Gordon Maguire, with another Irish boat, Colm Barrington's Surfin' Shoes second, and the English contender Nigel Bramwell's Hawk third.
