No champions if we cannot be serious
Sir: No wonder we can't produce any tennis champions in this country. The young don't get a chance to see any good tennis to become interested in the game once Wimbledon is over. Last Sunday the BBC couldn't be bothered to let us see the men's fi nal of the Australian Championships unless we got up at 5.45am.
The schools can't afford to make good tennis courts which might encourage children to start playing at an early age. While football clubs can afford to pay millions for one player, tennis clubs are struggling to attract those who can afford to pay large membership fees.
The media must start to make the game attractive by showing some enthusiasm for it.
