Mark Litton claimed his first victory for three years when he won the Open des Volcans in France at the first hole of a sudden death play-off. The 35-year-old Welshman, who lives in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, edged out Spain's Jose Carriles after they had tied on 12-under-par 276. Carriles had set the clubhouse target with a closing 67 leaving Litton requiring a birdie-three at the last for victory. He finished with a four for 68 to set up the play-off. Litton's last victory was also in France, at Biarritz in 1994, again on the Challenge Tour. Olivier Edmond of France was third on 277, while Londoner Warren Bennett closed with a 69 to share fourth place on 279 with overnight leader David A Russell.
