Han Xue, of China, set a new world short-course record at the World Cup meeting in Glasgow yesterday when she sliced 0.1sec off her own record for the 50 metres breaststroke, with a time of 30.88sec. Britain's James Hickman set a new European short-course record for the 100 metres butterfly although he had to settle for second place behind the Australian Michael Klim.
