The condition of Ian Tucker, the Oxford University centre, badly injured during a match against Saracens on Saturday, was described as "critical" yesterday.

Hennie le Roux, the Transvaal fly-half, may miss South Africa's tour of Argentina, France and Wales starting next month after injuring his leg in Saturday's Currie Cup final against Natal. Team doctors said Le Roux had a badly-bruised shin bone but no fracture. "The chances of me going on the Springbok tour are pretty slim unless a miracle happens. It seems I need at least a five-week break," Le Roux said.
