THERE were the standard tears and screams of disbelief in the boxing, but the highlight was the performance of the Irish bantamweight, Wayne McCullough.
Not only did he put on one of the classiest shows so far to outwit and outpoint the Ugandan, Fredrick Muteweta, he also registered the highest score of the tournament by winning 28-7.
But McCullough's show was eclipsed by the histrionics from the Italian camp after their middleweight world champion, Tommaso Russo, was outpointed 6-4 by Ahmed Dine of Algeria. Russo provided the tears and his coach, Franco Falcinelli, the anger. 'It's a scandal,' he said.
