OLYMPICS / Barcelona 1992: Olympic Round-Up: Mongolian sees hope

ONE of the few certainties about tomorrow's marathon is that the Mongolian Pyambuu Tuul will not win it.

In fact, he will probably be at the half-way point when the winner crosses the line. But for all that he is a true Olympian - the taking part really is what matters. For Tuul, 33, was totally blind for 12 years, and now has sight only in his right eye.

Tuul was blinded by an explosion in Mongolia in 1978, but underwent a cornea transplant last year. Tomorrow will be his third marathon. He ran in New York in 1990 (when he was blind) and then clocked 3hr 40min in last year's Boston Marathon.
