GHANA, as expected, and Australia, very much less so, both qualified for the football quarter-finals from Group D.
Australia walloped Denmark 3-0, and the Danes, boiling over with frustration, had Jon Miklos Molnar sent off.
Ghana, the world under-17 champions, needed Kwame Ayew's 87th-minute equaliser against Mexico, not only to guarantee them top spot in the group but also to send the Australians through on goal difference ahead of the Mexicans. The Africans will meet Paraguay, 3-1 winners over Morocco in Group C, in the quarter- finals on Sunday.
