DISTANT VIEW, the Henry Cecil-trained runner-up to Grand Lodge in last month's St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, yesterday had his price for next Wednesday's Sussex Stakes at Goodwood cut significantly by bookmakers Coral.

'He worked very well at Newmarket this morning and we have cut him from 6-1 to 9- 2,' Rob Hartnett, Coral's spokesman, said. Distant View is now second-favourite alongside Bigstone. Coral bet: 4-1 Mister Baileys, 9-2 Bigstone, Distant View, 6-1 Grand Lodge, 8-1 Barathea.

In opening betting on the Ebor Handicap, the Tote make Cecil's Red Route 9-1 favourite.
