Racing: Bob's Return best of British raiders
BOB'S RETURN, last year's St Leger winner, produced the best result by Britain's travellers abroad yesterday, and he was only fourth.
Mark Tompkins's charge did well to finish just over three lengths behind the 18-1 Prix Ganay winner, Marildo, at Longchamp. Intrepidity, the 1993 Oaks winner, took second, with Urban Sea, the Arc winner, touching off Bob's Return for the minor place. Britain's other challenger, Ezzoud, came seventh.
Pat Eddery's four-day ban cost him an important winner when Bonash took the Prix Vanteaux. She heads for an Oaks at Epsom or Chantilly.
John Dunlop's Ultimo Imperatore and Spaghetti Western finished down the field behind Poliuto in the Premio Parioli (Italian 2,000 Guineas) at Capannelle.
