MICK CHANNON set a new personal best as a trainer yesterday when registering his first-ever half century. Pharsical's success at Catterick was his 48th in Britain but he reaches the 50 by virtue of two victories abroad.

Channon has steadily improved his total in five seasons as a trainer.
