BECOMING the first horse to win the Irish St Leger twice may not be the most noteworthy achievement of Vintage Crop's career - the race has, after all, been open to older horses for only a few years - but his next race could secure statues in two hemispheres.
Dermot Weld's seven-year- old went into quarantine yesterday prior to his trip to Australia to defend the Melbourne Cup. His performance on Saturday showed that his ability is undiminished. Weld should again have him at his peak on the first Tuesday in November.
