Racing: Danoli 5-1 for Champion

DANOLI is the 5-1 favourite for next year's Champion Hurdle after a spectacular eight- length success in the Aintree Hurdle. With Flakey Dove, the reigning champion, failing to cope with the heavy ground, Mole Board and Fortune And Fame chased Danoli home and the strength of the form is questionable.

Tom Foley's hurdler was completing a double for the Irish instigated by the Pat Flynn-trained For Reg in the opener. Flynn had told For Reg's rider, Adrian Maguire, to 'look after him' but the stewards believed Maguire failed to carry out the request and banned him for two days for excessive use of the whip. The winner had run at Fairyhouse only four days previously.
