The John Gosden and Frankie Dettori team, having earlier been successful with Leap For Joy, also combined to take the Group One Gran Premio del Jockey Club E Coppa d'Oro with Shantou in Milan yesterday.
Shantou, clearly revelling on the sticky ground, soon had matters in hand, the 14-10 shot forging three lengths clear of Michael Stoute's Sacrament, ridden by Walter Swinburn, in the 12-furlong event. Paul Cole's Gran Premio di Milano winner, Strategic Choice, with Richard Quinn aboard, managed third.
Leap For Joy (12-10) repeated her 1995 success in the Group Three Premio Omenoni. Gosden's charge spearheaded a British 1-2-3 in the five-furlong race. Leap For Joy beat Brave Edge by a length and a quarter, with Hever Golf Rose a short head further back.
