Racing: Elliott hangs up his boots

BOBBY ELLIOTT retired from race riding yesterday, 36 years after riding his first winner. The jockey, 53 on Sunday, finished fast on his last mount, Can Can Charlie, at Lingfield yesterday but failed to catch Pretonic.

'It is a sad day,' said Elliott, who will be a work rider for trainer Mark Johnston.
