Racing: Five racecourses remain frozen

KEMPTON is one of only three courses unlikely to be affected by the weather on Boxing Day. The tracks at Huntingdon, Market Rasen, Sedgefield, Wetherby and Wolverhampton are frozen and unraceable at present, but those in the south-west, Wincanton and Newton Abbot, should go ahead.

Inspections will take place today at Huntingdon (noon) and Market Rasen (2pm) and on Christmas Day at Wolverhampton (9am), Wetherby (noon) and Sedgefield (3pm).

With no immediate prospects of a thaw, officials at all five courses are pessimistic.
