Racing: For the Notebook
A weekly list of horses to follow:
CLIBURNEL NEWS: nearest at the finish in the six-furlong nursery won by Silverlocks at Ayr on Friday. Seems to need further now and should be on a winning mark if allowed to try an extra furlong or two. (M Tompkins).
GREEN KILT: made his debut in a Newbury maiden which often throws up high class performers from its also-rans. Handled very tenderly when the winner was clearly gone beyond recall, but will surely improve markedly for the experience and holds several valuable late-season engagements. (Lord Huntingdon).
SUNTARA: jockey bookings implied she was far from her stable's first string, but this filly ran on with particular vigour in the final stages to finish runner-up to Sueboog at Newbury. From a yard which is finally finding its form, and looks certain to lose her maiden tag before the season is out. (B Hills).
SUSQUEHANNA DAYS: a place behind Suntara at Newbury, this half-sister to Song Of Sixpence made up a lot of ground when realising what was required in the closing stages of the seven-furlong race that usually throws up some classy types. Will do better over a longer trip. (I Balding).
