Racing: For the Notebook: A weekly list of horses to follow
FIRST DIVISION: a 10-year-old attempting to resume a hurdling career that saw a win at Warwick in 1988. Ran well until fading into sixth (at 66-1) to Zealous Kitten at Wolverhampton on Wednesday. That run, and his old form behind useful rivals, points to this gelding being able to reward his connections' patience. (W Jenks)
OSMOSIS: held up in midfield in a 19-runner novice handicap chase at Doncaster until rushed up to the leaders a mile out. His challenge petered out after being impeded by eventual victor, Musthaveaswig. A certain future winner. (D Murray Smith)
SPARTAN TIMES: this chasing type ran for the first time in 20 months on Thursday, in a handicap hurdle at Huntingdon. Tired into fifth place behind Officer Cadet, but should soon show over fences the form that saw him beat Riverside Boy by five lengths in a Chepstow hurdle in 1991. (T Forster)
