KINGS FOUNTAIN, once a Gold Cup contender, rediscovered his old form to win at 10-1 at Newbury yesterday. The victory earned the giant 11-year-old a late reprieve from a switch to hunter chasing.
It also earned a big profit for staff at Kim Bailey's Lambourn stable. 'He was worked specially for this and at 10-1 the boys will have had a field day,' Bailey said later. 'But it was make or break day for Kings Fountain this afternoon. Otherwise he was going hunter chasing.'
