John Gosden has been co-opted on to the council of the Racehorse Owners Association, it was announced yesterday.

The position will take effect immediately with the Newmarket trainer representing the interests of the Maktoum family, Dubai's rulers.

The Maktoums - the leading owners in Britain - have expressed a desire to stay in closer contact with developments within British racing.
