ASCOT

2.00: Differential, a son of Known Fact, is a chip off the old block and enjoyed the firmish ground on his debut. LORD PACAL also has fast- ground form but would be more likely to handle a slower surface. Rain was forecast last night.

ooo

2.30: Plenty of winning form here, but Kieren Fallon can snatch this prize on TEMPLE WAY. Roger Charlton's runners are in the ascendant right now.

ooo

3.05: Plenty of riders will be trying to get their mounts into the slipstream of Refuse To Lose, a likely trial-blazer from stall 14. Jimmy Quinn on INDIAN LODGE (9), Richard Quinn on Tajasur (10), Gary Carter on Ettrick (12) and Pat Eddery on Sunstreak (16) are among those handily-placed to do so. Indian Lodge drops back to 7f after an excellent third at Goodwood last week. This colt would not be inconvenienced if threatened heavy showers arrive. The Tote's 16-1 should be taken. Mubrik, on the far side, would be a danger if it gets muddy.

HAYDOCK

3.10: NICHOL FIFTY often produces his best form when fresh, so a 42-day absence from the track is a plus. The gelding has won at this distance, prefers an easy surface and the Mark Tompkins stable is in form.

3.40: Further Outlook is burderned with top weight, but has been competing in better company. He can come out best of the low numbers. But if those close to the stands rails have an edge, THE GAY FOX looks weighted to take advantage.

ooo

4.10: Ela Athena appears to have the best chance from the three-year- old contingent. But if the Stoute yard has rekindled the abilities shown last year by GREEK DANCE, this should be another winner for Gary Stevens.

ooo

4.40: TOPATORI has been showing up well on ground faster than ideal this season, but the mud is this mare's natural home. Any further showers should ensure she is right in the firing line today.

REDCAR

3.25: HYDE PARK showed a glimmer of his old sparkle last time, and now looks ready to be another advertisement for the reinvigoration techniques of David Nicholls.

ooo

3.55: A poor race to include in the scoop6. RAINBOW RAVER is only a tentative selection.
