DONCASTER

2.35: Jack Berry has put his reputation for winning with early-season juveniles at stake in a charity bet. Mind Games will be trying to land the first leg of the wager. But HINTON ROCK, a February foal, may be more precocious and has shown plenty of speed in home work for a yard which saddled the runner-up in this race last year.

3.05: Richard Hannon's runners are frequently short of peak fitness on their initial run of the season, a factor undermining the otherwise excellent chance of Innishowen. Conversely, Ian Balding is a trainer with a good first-time-out record, and PAY HOMAGE can take this on fast ground.

3.10: DON PEPE, who has not run since disappointing on soft ground last summer, could be leniently treated on his handicap debut against rivals, headed by International Star, who mostly have yet to prove they can stand the heat over the minimum on fast going.

4.10: A trappy race with the likes of Down D Islands, Plinth, Prince Danzig and Surprise Guest having been running well on the all- weather tracks. Their fitness could be decisive here, but FRED'S DELIGHT looks to have more scope. Michael Heaton-Ellis's was brought along quietly as a two-year-old and now runs in a handicap for the first time.
