PLUMPTON'S meeting this afternoon depends on a precautionary inspection by the track's stewards at 7.30am. Cliff Griggs, the clerk of the course, reported that the track had suffered heavy overnight rain and it was '50-50' whether racing could have taken place yesterday.

Officials at Newton Abbot inspected the course at 4pm yesterday but later announced that today's card would go ahead and that no further inspection was planned.
