Today's programme suffered a casualty when the meeting at Newton Abbot was called off on Christmas Eve.

Michael Trickey, the clerk of the West Country track, said: "After persistent rain the ground is waterlogged and with further rain forecast we have had no alternative but to abandon."

It is the third year running that this fixture has been lost.
