Racing: Pay award for riders

JOCKEYS are set for a pay rise of between 5.25 and 6.4 per cent. In a two-year settlement between the Racehorse Owners Association and the Jockeys Association, Flat jockeys will now receive pounds 58 per ride, an increase of pounds 2.90 on the previous sum.

Jump jockeys have been given a raise of pounds 4.80 and will receive pounds 80 per ride.

Alriffa, expected to be supplemented for Sunday's Irish Derby was cut from 8-1 to 7-1 by Ladbrokes yesterday. He is expected to be ridden by Pat Eddery, who bred the colt.
