A RACE series intended to improve the opportunities open to new trainers was announced yesterday.

A pounds 10,000 prize will be given to the stable winning most bonus points in the Weatherbys Newcomers Series.

One series, consisting of eight races, will be staged on the Flat and one over jumps. Only trainers licensed since January 1990 will be eligible for the prize.
