Racing: Soviet Bureau shows promise

Gay Kelleway unleashed a potentially good youngster at Salisbury yesterday in the shape of Soviet Bureau who beat Dark Moondancer by a length and a quarter for the Isle of Wight Novices Stakes under Kieren Fallon. "This is my star," Kelleway said. "He is the first horse I have ever entered for the Derby as he beat all my good horses like Russian Music at home. "He's in the Royal Lodge at Ascot next month but Kieren told me to take my time with him so I definitely won't be rushing him," she added.

Judge Derek Lever took 15 minutes to separate Harmonic Way and Inchtina after they had flashed past the post together at the end of the Sandown Maiden Stakes. Lever eventually called Harmonic Way the short-head victor.
