Racing: Two cards miss ease in freeze

NATIONAL HUNT racing resumed yesterday after a three-day absence, but frost prevented a complete return to normal service.

Cheltenham and Leicester, where racing had been expected to go ahead, were abandoned, and today's fixture at Nottingham also failed an inspection. Milder weather in the south enabled racing to proceed at Windsor and Exeter.

Freezing fog is forecast for central and southern England today but no problems have been reported at Newbury, Ayr and Southwell.
