Point-to-point: Farlington can get show on the road

Simon Shirley-Beavan's horsebox will leave Bonchester Bridge, near Hawick in Roxburghshire, in the early hours of tomorrow morning to take Farlington and Sea Trader on the 600-mile round trip to Cottenham. Farlington will be ridden by his son, Charlie, who must be the tallest amateur jockey, in the men's open (12.30) but as he would according to his father "have to chop a leg off to do 12 stone" Kelly Bryson partners Sea Trader in the open maiden (2.30).

The going remains good to firm conditions which will favour Farlington, who won twice last season, in what looks a fairly weak event. The smart Christy Beamish has a turn of foot and should make his first appearance in a ladies' open (1.0) a successful one.
