Alister McRae, the former British champion, will lead a three-pronged Volkswagen assault on next month's RAC Rally. McRae will drive a new, more powerful version of the Golf Gti 16V during the three-day event, which starts from Chester on 23 November.
The Lanark-based 25-year-old brother of the former world champion Colin, was British champion in 1995, won the Group N class on the 1992 RAC, finished fourth overall on last year's RAC and was outright victor of this year's Welsh and Pirelli International Rallies.
McRae will be joined in the team by former Austrian rally champion Raimund Baumschlager and Swedish ace Jorgen Jonasson.
