Rebel riders thrown out

Speedway's world governing body, the FIM, has thrown 13 top riders out of the World Championship. The riders - including England internationals Carl Stonehewer and Ben Howe - refused to race in the overseas final at Coventry in protest at the introduction of a new solid block tyre. Now the FIM has ordered a disciplinary hearing in Vienna on Friday, at which the riders face fines of up to pounds 4,000 and two-year bans from all international events.
