Relkeel, one of the favourites for the Champion Hurdle until suffering a setback on the eve of the race, will not run again this season. His trainer, David Nicholson, had pencilled in a target at Aintree for the gelding.

Nicholson also held out the possibility that Relkeel would be given the chance to extend his record of nine wins from 10 starts over hurdles next term rather than go novice chasing.

n The Michael Stoute-trained Red Carnival has been backed from 11-1 to 8-1 with Ladbrokes for the 1,000 Guineas. Moonshell is 6-1 favourite.
