Other league-playing nations have called on the Australian Rugby League to select the strongest side, regardless of Super League defections, for this October's Centenary World Cup. A telephone meeting of the game's international board yesterday gave the ARL chief, Ken Arthurson, a week to respond.

The former Wigan, New Zealand and Queensland coach, Graham Lowe, is to return to coaching with the North Queensland Cowboys.
