The Oldham coach, Andy Goodway, has left the Super League club "by amicable agreement" with eight months of his contract to run. His No 2, Alan McCurrie, also leaves Boundary Park. Goodway will be replaced by the Australian Bob Lindner, Oldham's player-coach in 1994.
A scan on the hamstring injury suffered by the St Helens centre Alan Hunte has shown up a tear, but he could be fit for the Challenge Cup final on Saturday week. Derek McVey, the Saints forward, says he has a "better than average" chance of shaking off ankle ligament damage in time for the final.
