Leeds' other new signings, the New Zealand forwards, George Mann and Esene Faimalo, will be on the bench, with Marcus Vassilakopoulos standing in for the injured hooker, James Lowes.
Vince Fawcett, signed during the summer, makes his Workington debut at centre against his former club.
Phil Clarke will miss Wigan's opening match at Featherstone on Sunday. He has not fully recovered from a summer wrist operation.
The Salford coach, Garry Jack, has left Andy Gregory, out of the team to play Wakefield. Gregory was late starting summer training because of an ear infection.
