COLIN HUTTON, the former Great Britain manager, is the new president of the Rugby League.

Hutton, the Hull Kingston Rovers official and former coach who played for Widnes and Hull, was elected at a Council meeting in Leeds last night, with Roy Waudby (Hull) named as president elect.

Harry Jepson (Leeds) retained his place on the sport's board of directors, while Stephen Ball (Batley) won a poll for the other vacancy, Rodney Walker (Wakefield) losing his place.

Swinton, who will play their home games at Bury FC's Gigg Lane ground next season, have received planning permission for the development of their Station Road ground and hope to sell it within a fortnight.
