ENGLAND wingers Tony and Rory Underwood scored a spectacular try apiece as Leicester breezed past London Irish 43-10. The Pilkington Cup holders ran Irish ragged, and Jez Harris landed 18 points. The first try was the best: Neil Back linked with Harris and Wayne Kilford in the line before Rory Underwood sent his brother over in the corner to end a wonderful flowing move.

Orrell ejected Newcastle Gosforth from the Cup in a match that was scoreless until eight minutes from time, when Gosforth lost full-back David Bennett with a leg injury. Soon after Bennett left the field, Orrell flanker Neil Ashurst scored a try, Gosforth replied through the centre Mat Tetlow, and finally Orrell's James Naylor went over near the flag.

Sale, the stingiest team in all four leagues (they have conceded only 68 points in 10 league games), allowed fellow Second Division side Otley just one consolation try in a 58-7 victory. Sale scored eight tries; Paul Turner converted six.

The games that set Second Division sides against Third Division opposition followed the form book. In the all-London tie Saracens defeated Rosslyn Park 29-12, advancing to the quarter-finals thanks to a powerful pack and reliable place kicker Andy Tunningley. Moseley were glad to have Simon Hodgkinson back after missing last week's game: he kicked four penalties in their nervous 15-6 defeat of Fylde.

Ystradgynlais's victory over Newport was the shock in the Swalec Cup fifth round, but Third Division Abercynon gave Neath a mighty shock, scoring two tries before fading to a 12- 19 defeat.
