Dick Best, the Harlequins rugby director, yesterday dismissed speculation that the Courage League leaders have made inquiries about signing the leading New Zealand forwards, Zinzan Brooke and Michael Jones.

Jason John, the former Great Britain sprinter, will make his Courage Clubs' Championship debut for Moseley in tomorrow's National League Two game against Nottingham at The Reddings. Moseley drop their captain, Andy Houston, Carl Hall, Craig Quick and Stuart Langley and will also give league debuts to Mike Brookes and Dan Harris.

Alex Evans, Australia's director of coaching, has turned down the chance to return to Cardiff in the same capacity.

The Rugby Football Union have renewed their contract with James Gilbert as their official ball suppliers.
