Representatives of First Division clubs in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France and Italy met in Cardiff yesterday and expressed their support for a proposal for a second European competition. In addition to the main European Cup, the plan is for a second tournament involving teams from all six countries: England, Wales and France, who will have four representatives in the European Cup, will each have eight sides in the second competition, while Scotland and Ireland's three European Cup sides will be joined by a further five in the subsidiary tournament.
