Wasps have never won the national knock-out Cup and, after yesterday's patchy 34-8 win over Fylde, those watching could be forgiven for believing it may not happen this year either.

Wasps took the lead through a Gareth Rees penalty, but Fylde's early pressure was rewarded with Mark Evans' solo effort after five minutes. Rees and Stephen Gough then exchanged penalties to leave Fylde 8-6 ahead at half-time.

Wasps' Shane Roiser scored immediately after the restart and Rees converted. He then added two more penalties before Paul Sampson went in at the corner to end Fylde's giant-killing dreams. Peter Scrivener then wrapped things up with a pushover try six minutes from time to seal Wasps' victory.
